the scottish mystic
George MacDonald was a novelist, storyteller, poet, pastor, and theologian. Many great authors consider him to be the father of fantasy literature. In several of his introductions to MacDonald’s work, C.S. Lewis affectionately refers to him as his mentor and “master.”
I have been reading MacDonald my entire life. This is in no small part due to my grandmother, who was fascinated with fairy tales and Scottish history.
This quote is from his sermon “Love Thine Enemy” in The Unspoken Sermons (I, II, III).
